As is usually the global tradition, Ugandans joined the rest of the world in welcoming the New Year in style with lots of partying and merrymaking as celebrations and festivities reached climax point.
Several hangouts, recreational and worship venues across the city were filled to capacity by droves of excited partiers and worshipers eagerly waiting in anticipation to crossover to the New Year at the midnight hour. They sang dances ate and drank as the clock ticked away with every second that passed by heightening the increasing the tension even more.
And indeed when it clocked midnight, Kampala erupted into a frenzy of joyful and happy souls as the fireworks went off across the city, lighting up the usually dark streets in combination of different colors that created breathtaking and spectacular spectrums in the unusually chilly skies.
“This year 2018 is a year of serving the Lord Jesus Christ me and my family and bless me with spiritually and physically because l want scar to help me in reaching out to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God l know God is able to do and l believe he has ready done it all glory and honor belongs to him Jesus Christ name of God l remain Musinguzi Moses son of God” commented one excited reveller.
With the Kampala Metropolitan police limiting the fireworks blasts to only five minutes, the organisers of the different events had to utilise the limited time to the maximum as they fired their best colour combinations in waves and different interesting shapes as the revellers ululated and jumped in jubilation. Here are some of the best moments from around the city.
