We would be wrong if we said that all youth of Mbarara City don’t like Presidential Advisor in charge of Youth and Artistes’ affairs, Jennifer Nakangubi alias Full Figure but a group of some, don’t.
They not only dislike like her but also don’t want her to ever step a foot in ‘their’ city again if the videos of the peaceful anti-Full Figure protest and the fire the protesters were spitting is anything to go by.
The protest led by some of the Mbarara based artistes, including Penny Patra of the ‘Nankogu’ hit song fame was sparked off by president Museveni’s campaign posters bearing Full Figure’s photo on the side. These were hung in different places around Mbarara including the famous ‘Ahamahembe G’ente’ roundabout located in the center of the town-turned-city.
The protesters’ main reason was the fact that the posters in question bearing Full Figure, a non Westerner and Western based artiste were in Mbarara. They for that reason therefore removed the poster at ‘Ahamahembe G’ente’ matched with it and handed it over at Police Headquarters, Mbarara as they chanted “Titukwenda Full Figure”, Runyankore dialect for “we don’t want/need Full Figure”
“We are here, we can stand for ourselves as artistes. We have Baigana, Kyamukongwiire, Rasta Charz, we have Penny Patra I myself and we can be presidential advisors not a P2 dropout” Singer Penny Patra was taped raising her voice.
Meanwhile, to defiant and motor mouthed Full Figure, she thinks that it was a failed tribalistic move by these Mbarara artistes whom she claims are just looking for relevance. Her simple advice to them was to just hit studio and make hit songs,
“If these Mbarara artistes are looking for hit songs, let them go to studios and record hit songs but me they are trying to come at, I am a higher level than them. I am a different class” unshaken Full Figure said in an interview with Spark TV.
