Golola Moses Takes On Egyptian Champion Saber This Friday

Golola Moses is to stage a fight with Egyptian champion Saber Abdelgani this Friday at the Kampala Hilton Hotel. The fight is projected to be his biggest fight this year and it is supposed to be a fundraising event for a Golola Kickboxing Academy which is to be started by the kickboxing champion. The event is called Golola Talent Academy Fundraising Fight.

According to the fight promoter, Maureen Mulangira, the bout is intended to raise funds for the Golola Talent Academy in Kazo. For starters, the celebrity boxing contest, one of the fundraising events whose proceeds will go towards construction of Moses Golola Kickboxing Academy in Kawempe.

Golola started his boxing career at Kawempe Boxing Club in 1997 and joined Dynamic where he teamed up with his childhood idol, Isaac ‘Zebra’ Ssenyange, a former national team (The Bombers) captain. He has gone on to become the best kickboxer in Uganda and he plans on making kickboxing the number one sport in Uganda.

But Golola, known for his prevent pomp and bragging attributes, has talked up the bout into a competitive fight come Friday night. For him, the contest is more than just a fundraiser. This guy has intimidated every oponnent he has faced  with several media rants and promises of beating them to pulp. This has given him more fame in the kickboxing sport both among fans and fellow fighter.

“I want to show people that this is what I was born to do and I will send that Egyptian back floating on the Nile till Egypt” the motor-mouthed kickboxer explained during an interview with Chano8 during  a training session. Golola’s Egyptian opponent Saber Abdelgani is already in the country ahead of their scheduled four-round bout on Friday, October 30 at Hilton hotel.

Undercard bouts lined up include Edward Kakembo vs Kenyan Anderson Sifuna (feather-weight), Sula Ssegawa vs Hakim Waibale (light welterweight), Remmy Iga vs Mudde Ntambi (fly-weight), welterweights; Meddie Ssebyala vs Kenya’s Patrick Amote and Ken Lukyamuzi vs Mustafa Mongolia, plus a ladies exbibition bout between Diana Tulyanabo against Brenda Najjuma.

Entry charges are Shs 10,000 (general admission), Shs 20,000 (VIP) and corporate table Shs 1 million. Golola needs up Shs 2 billion to construct his kickboxing academy. He has already acquired the land but needs Shs2 billion to fully establish the academy.
