VIGA awards have a uniqueness about them. They exclusively reward the artistes who sing Christian/Gospel music, which is a genre that is, like the name suggests, all about God. Gospel artistes have taken a twist from the secular and polemical content in most of the songs today to use music to praise and glorify the only name worthy of praise, God. This is a noble venture, which VIGA found apt to award.
The 2015 edition, originally meant to be held last year in December, will be the 4th time the awards are held. The original date was shifted because of unprecedented occurrences, as Prince Nick Nyombi, the chairman of the event explains.
“We expected some guests from abroad and they were delayed, yet they had a key presentation to make. We thus had to push the date” Nyombi told Chano8 on phone.
Now that the new date is over the horizon, preparations are already underway to make the best of the day. As Nyombi explains, the gospel artistes should come ready to have their efforts appreciated.
“They should expect a well organized event, since we want to make VIGA the biggest celebration of gospel. We strive for excellence” he added.
Of course class and glamour will be expected, as it will be a black tie event. The fashion side of the gospel artistes and gospel music lovers will be put to test on the red carpet, so to be on the right side, step out when you are sure of your look.
The event will go down at Imperial Royale Hotel on Saturday 16th, with gates opening at 4pm. Tickets will be going at 50,000/= for regular and 100,000/= for VIP.
