Government Gives Financial Support To More Associations In The Entertainment Industry

The Ugandan arts, culture and creative industry is still one of the sectors still affected by the outbreak of Covid-19 which forced the government to suspend all social events been to work since March 2020

Government through the National Culture Forum (NCF) gave out some financial support to different associations in the Entertainment Industry.

The associations that received the support include Uganda Theatrical Association (UTA) which received Ug Shs 15 million, Uganda Film Association (UFA) got 10 million, Dancers Association Of Uganda (DAU) got 10 million too and Uganda Federation Of Movie Industry (UFMI) 10 million.

According to a statement issued of, from the Forum, gave out grants to build the capacity of sector associations to serve their members needs better.

The statement further indicated that in the next phase, Government is expected to give Shs 37 billion in small grants to artistes to support them to create new works, acquire technology, use digital platforms etcetera.

The National Cultural Forum is the association that represents artistes at the ministry of gender, labour and social development.

It’s chaired by veteran Afrobeats and Raggamuffin singer Ragga Dee real name Dan Kazibwe and has many representatives that work with creative arts organisations in Uganda.
