The recently launched ‘Dance Uganda Night’ returns tonight at Kampala’s premium night club Guvnor, this time round, with special guest appearances by Afro-pop singer Mesach Semakula and New Diva on the block Spice Diana.
The theme night which is hosted by NTV’s Koona presenter and Chano8 columnist Miles Rwamiti features one of Uganda’s most successful artistes in veteran Mesach semakula also known as Golden Papa of the Golden Band.
Semakula who has been in the music industry for over two decades, is the leader of Makindye based Golden Band and has over fifteen albums to his name. The Multi-award winning artiste who is preparing for his ‘My Journey’ concert slated for Kampala Serena hotel on 25th September is expected to perform some of his all time fan favourite songs like ‘Ntomede’, ‘Silika Nkulojele’, ‘Sembera’, ‘Wampangula’, ‘Ritah’, ‘Tukwegomba Bangi’, ‘Kulika Baby’, ‘Bakazi Abaguma’, ‘First Aid’, ‘Kabiri Nage’, ‘Taliyo’, ‘Oseka ki’, ‘Kyalimpa’, ‘Kyonkumira’ and many more.
While young upcoming star Spice Diana (real names Diana Namukwaya) is expected to spice up things with her energetic performances of songs like ‘Onsanula’, ’Ulala’, ’Nze Akwagala’, ‘Sitoma’, ‘Kyokola’, ‘I miss you’ etc .
Ugandans have started fully embracing their own local talent and giving support though Rwamiti called for more backing because this is the only way we can push our very own to the level of the West Africans and Jamaicans on the international music scene.
The theme night which is specifically dedicated to local music and artistes where revellers have a chance to listen and dance to their favourite hits by Uganda artistes takes place every second Friday of the month.
It also gives the artistes themselves a chance to interact and get up-close with their fans as they are given an opportunity to perform live on these special nights which will be hosted by some of the best DJs in town doing the magic on the turn tables as revelers see off the nights.
Top Ugandan hits from back in the day as well as the latest in all genres will be played with comedians and dancers.
