All has not been well with musician Henry Tigan. He has been off the music scene for a very long time and with musicians, they earn a living through singing so without music, there would be no performances unless for a few like Maddox Sematimba and Afrigo band.
With a family that he has to look after, Tigan was desperate to make a comeback and what better way to do it than have a concert in a place that he perhaps has the biggest fan base. Confort Zone Hotel in Luzira was the venue for his ‘Webale Mukama-Tulibawo’ concert that he held on Saturday.
The evening clearly indicated that Tigan still holds that special place for many music lovers as the concert sold out. His fans where in a jovial mood as they sung along to his music while others just couldn’t get tired of tipping him.
In fact, Adam Ntale, of Ntale Skin products, one of the concert’s main sponsors, donated Shs10m to Tigan. Shadrack Nzeire, a young brother to President Yoweri Museveni donated Shs5m. The Luzira area Local Council chairman, George Kajubi, gave the singer Shs200, 000. Others just donated him with Shs500, to Shs1, 000, Shs2, 000 and Shs5, 000 notes.
Henry Tigan, despite the many years of silence has never lost his touch. He had a good stage presence, moving from one end to another as he reached out to fans who had drawn close to the stage to interact with him. His voice was fine and when he perfomed some of his best-selling songs like Abogezi, Lwaki Oninza, Out of Control, Nsiimye Gwe, Muzudde, Voom Voom and Emiranga among others, some people where only left to bow for him.
He was supported by Dr Hilderman, Maureen Nantume and some upcoming artistes from surrounding areas.
