Kato Lubwama To Grace World Culture Day Celebrations

Newly elected Rubaga South member of parliament Hon Kato Lubwama will be the Chief Guest as Uganda joins the rest of the World to celebrate the World Culture Day.

The event is slated to take place at National Theatre this Saturday the 21st of May, under the theme “Celebrating our Cultural Diversity”. The local celebrations will be advocating for peace and unity for sustainable development.

Speaking about this day, Francis Peter Ojede, the Executive Director Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNNC) said. “As the custodian of Culture in Uganda, It is mandatory that we celebrate this day because it is a very important day to us as an institution. We are organizing this event under the theme celebrating our Cultural Diversity. The role of Culture in creating peace and Unity for sustainable development.”

The activities for the day will include a Cultural dialogue where there will be a key note address by Professor Mageni Patrick, Dean School of Liberal and Performing Arts, College of Humanities and Social Sciences from Makerere University

The discussant will be Prof Mercy Mirembe Ntangaare, Director MEBO theatre and Senior Lecturer Makerere University and Professor Okaka Opio of Kyambogo University. The moderator will be Andrew Ssebagala of House of Talents.

Besides that, there will be a showcasing of different dances, drummers and backcloth making while performances will come in from Galaxy International School Uganda, St Kizito Kawempe, Royal Institute, Talanta Uganda many others.
