Never before has a child abuse victim participated in the Miss Uganda beauty pageant so Aisha Nabukeera became the first to do so during this year’s competition.
Aisha was among the ten finalists and was highly tipped to become the first Miss Uganda, if it wasn’t for the way she answered her questions and how others responded to theirs she would have had a greater chance of winning it.
When Aisha announced her intention to contest, everyone was shocked about the decision but with a supporting family in Frank Gashumba, she was encouraged and pushed to follow her dreams. This in a way made the public aware of the competition just to see how far the child abuse victim could reach.
Frank Gashumba and her daughter Shiela Gashumba who command a huge following on social network, which include Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and also used other media platforms to ask for votes for Aisha. This also pulled more concentration from the public.
The s6 vacist also caught a lot of media attention because they wanted to know more about her life since the terrifying incident where she was tortured by her stepmother over 12 years ago.
The chase for the throne, saw Zahara Nakiyaga come out victorious.
