The first time veteran musician Bebe Cool was pelted with bottles by irate revellers was at the Swangz Avenue All Star concert featuring Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall singer Tarrus Riley at Lugogo Cricket Oval on 31st of August 2018.
A group of rowdy revellers who were shouting the statement ‘People Power’ on top of their lungs didn’t wait even a second to throw bottles at Bebe as soon as he stepped on stage.
This was mainly because of what was perceived as his negative comments about fellow musician Bobi Wine who in that very month (August 2018) had been allegedly tortured and arrested by Special Forces soldiers in Arua.
At the recently concluded singer Cindy Sanyu’s Boom Party Concert at Logogo Cricket Oval, the same thing happened again. The ‘Wire Wire’ hit singer who was one of the local artistes to entertain revellers was welcomed with nothing but bottles, thrown by irate fans to stage.
Bebe took to the stage with all the energy, jumping up and down to join B2C trio to perform their collabo song ‘Amattu Magule’. For a few seconds the crowd kind of gave him a good reception until B2C left the stage to him.
He immediately commenced his performance beginning with ‘Easy’ but before he opening his mouth to sing, some people within the crowd began throwing plastic bottles full of water, beer and even urine at him
With all the expectation that may be he could walk away, it turned out that Bebe decided to defiantly brave the bottles and remained performing as more bottles flew in. Thank God there weren’t glass bottles which could have harmed him
After performing ‘Easy’, his Dj did a very good job to play his ‘Wire Wire’ hit which threw revellers into a frenzy. This didn’t however stop the bottle throwing which continued until the very last second he got done with his performance and walked away from stage
Although the bottles were being thrown, Bebe didn’t cowardice and walk away. He maintained his energy and did his job and went away after.
