The 12th edition of the Blankets and Wine, an East Africa’s premier music experience designed to showcase outstanding musicians in the emerging genres of afro-based music, yesterday happened successfully at the Uganda Museum Ground located In Kitante. Like usual, revelers were smart and ready to party, no wonder it was Easter.

All promised artistes performed and no one left the stage without giving the fans a good smart music showcase. Wearing a black dress with zebra stripes and black high heeled boots, Sandra Suubi took the stage at 15 minutes past 4pm. She performed most of her songs but ‘Neyanziza’, ‘Tuli Njiibwa’, and ‘Misubawa’ by Maurice Kirya left the crowd in excitement.

She later introduced her Xabu Music group mates Tonya and Brenda with whom she performed a song with and later invited fellow singers Solome Basuuta and MoRoots

People came to have fun
Reggae Veteran Maddox Ssematimba was the next performer and revelers got excited even before he stepped on stage. Wearing a black rasta cap with rasta colours green, yellow and red, a red t Shirt, black pants and shoes, Maddox started off his performance singing ‘Dembe’, ‘Okaabila Ki’, ‘Omuyimbi’, ‘Omukwano Gwaffe’, ‘Easy’, ‘Nakatudde’, ‘Irene’, ‘and lastly ‘Namageme.’

Even when he was singing, he had a time a time to talk to his fans, salute and smile at them. “You are re nice people, and you are very smart. Happy Easter” were the words he said to the revelers who were drunk on his performance like Dr Jose Chameleone, Sheila Gashumba, and Iryn Namubiru who was thrilled when Maddox performed ‘Irene’.

Uhuru from South Africa were the last performers. They thrilled the revelers performing songs like ‘Achukucha’, Wiz Kid’s ‘Show You The Money’ and ‘Khona’ remix. The 4 singers distributed themselves where by Dj Clap was on the decks, Howard on the piano where as Dj Backs and Dj Maphorisa did the singing.

All in all, Easter was well spent at the Blankets and Wine. Some of the celebrities who were in attendance are, Gaetano, Judith Heard, Eddy Kenzo, Benon (Swangz Avenue), Brian MC Kenzie, Andrew Kabura, Big Trill, Sasha Vybz, Daniela (Chameleone’s wife) and many more.
