The 47 Australian actor, singer, and producer exposed yet another bout with skin cancer on Monday warning his fans to take caution. It is neither the actor’s first encounter with skin cancer nor is it the first time he has urged his fans to wear sunscreen.
The X Men hero has been treated at least three times before dating back to 2013, for basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer.
The internationally recognized actor for his roles in major films, notably as superhero in X Men, The Wolverine, Van Helsing, Pan, Prisoners, Real Steel, Oklahoma and many more, posted a photo to his Facebook Page Monday showing a bandage over his nose and warning fans to wear sunscreen to keep the common disease at bay.
Millions of his fans were justifiably expressed concern, flooding his page with supportive comments and sharing skin cancer stories.
“An example of what happens when you don’t use sunscreen,” he wrote. “Basal cell, the mildest form of cancer. Please wear sunscreen and get checkups regularly!” According to the American Cancer Society, more than 8 in 10 of the 3.3 million Americans diagnosed with skin cancer each year have basal cell carcinoma however the diagnosis is rarely fatal.
