Self proclaimed music Doctor and now politician Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone has finally come out to apologize following the public spat he had with Ugandna Reveneue Authory (URA) tax enforcers.
The incidence captured on camera and shared widely on social media sees Chameleone in a heated verbal fight with the authorities who had camped at BBS TV offices where the singer went for a
‘scientific Easter concert’ to impound his latest ride.
“I wish to state, that as a person, in my celebrity capacity and as a leader, I have values I stand for, and I get disappointed every time I fail on them, just like that time. Therefore, for all of you my people who felt that I fell below your expectations, I’m sorry. I’m just human”. Chameleone said in a statement.
The Easter show dubbed Easter Camuka later went on successfully after the ‘Baliwa’ singer pleaded with the officials to let him go and serve his King.
The monster ride, a Toyota Landcruiser V8 believed to be a gift from a South Sudanese businesswoman is valued at over 100million and the URA officials were therefore demanding Chameleone huge amounts in unpaid taxes for importing the vehicle which still had Sudanese Registration Number plates.
The officials demanded to see the papers of the car but Chameleone told them he had left them at his Seguku home and that they could come the next day (Easter Monday) to see them. The officials eventually did so but still impounded the car after the former presented ‘unsatisfactory’ papers.
Chameleone has since promised to corporate and follow up the matter amicably to a logical conclusion.
”I assure you, all my fans and supporters, that I’m fine and enduring the lockdown. Let’s be calm, and continue observing the regulations as given by the World health organization and government. In the mean time I will continue working on more great Music”. He concluded.
