“I Will Always Support Ugandan Artistes At International Awards” – Navio

Ugandan Hip Hop icon Navio is no longer getting international nominations like he used to however, reasons for that will be for another day but the musician despite that, says he can’t support artistes from other countries when there is a Ugandan nominated in those awards.

This comes after a section of Ugandans decided to vote for Tanzanian singer Diamond Platinumz at the AFRIMAs in the same category that Bebe Cool is nominated in.

In fact, he loathes any Ugandan who does not support Ugandan music and considers them ‘non patriotic’.

“I support Ugandans when it comes to International award shows”, I can’t be on the other side however the circumstances might be,” he said a few days ago.

He also added that, he wishes Bebe Cool and other nominees from Uganda good luck at the much talked about Awards currently going on in Ghana. Another Ugandan artiste Bobi Wine who is a guest at the event was invited as a panelist but his followers started a campaign where they asked other people not to vote for Bebe Cool.

Navio has been on the music scene for a very long time having started out in a group known as Klear Kut while at High School, before he went solo and among his hits include ‘Ngalo’, ‘Bugumu’, ‘Njogeleza’ and ‘Nawuliranga’ among others. He also has other collaborations such as ‘Bad man Kamwokya’, with Bobi Wine and ‘Gbesile’ with Nigerian star Burna Boy among others.
