Jose Chameleone and Lillian Mbabazi are the artistes who have seen their careers skyrocket further this year. After a successful ‘Up Close and Personal’ concert at Serena on the 21st of August, Lillian Mbabazi got a nod at the Africa Music Awards in the category of Best Female artiste in East Africa. In her category, she will be tussling it out with the likes of Kenya’s Suzanna Owiyo, Tanzania’s Linah and Tsedenia from Ethiopia among others.
The Wale Wale star was also nominated in four categories that is; Best Male Artiste in East Africa, Song of the year (Wale Wale), Artiste Of The Year and Song Writer Of The Year. The awards will be held on Sunday the 15th of November in Lagos, Nigeria.
Even though Chameleone has never won any AFRIMA award, we expect him to at least come out with one or two awards. In one of the categories he is facing a stiff competition from Tanzania’s Alikiba, Cameroonian Charlotte Dipanda, Nigeria’s Wiz Kid, Flavour and Davido.
AFRIMA is a combined effort to recognize, award, promote and preserve Africa’s rich music culture. In partnership with the African Union, AU, it is expected to be the biggest music event in Africa.
