Juliana Kanyomozi Receives A Special Recognition Award

After three years off the music scene, the Diva Awards Afrika are back and already some artistes are receiving awards before the actual event that will be taking place in November in Kigali Rwanda.

Juliana Kanyomozi along with three other Ugandans received awards on Sunday evening in a pre-season launch party at club Ambience in Bukesa.

The ‘Woman’ artiste received the Special Recognition award for her role of inspiring other female artistes to join an industry that had already been dominated by the male artistes.

“Thank you so much DIVA awards for this recognition. I’m humbled and blessed.” She wrote on her Facebook wall.

The September event also saw Halima Namakula walking away with the Special Humanitarian Diva, Aisha Nabuukera taking the Special courageous Diva award and Joanita Kawalya winning the Special Lifetime achievement Diva award.

Kalule Kaggwa, the organizer of the awards said Uganda’s awarding night will be March 2016, to be preceded by the Diva Charity Run where past Diva Awards winners are expected to rally their supporters into teams to compete. Unlike previous awards that only targeted musicians, this season will recognize women from all walks of life.

“From May to July 2016, we shall also have the Diva Talent Search called Diva Factor, strictly for upcoming female musicians where we will select four best girls to help them develop their talent in music, by producing them, managing and marketing them for the following four years, and this project will be annual,” Kaggwa said.
