Some might say he has bowed out because of pressure but Julius Kyazze is walking with his head up high after stepping down as the chairman of the Uganda Musicians Association. (UMA)
The Swangz Avenue record label co-partner announced this news through a Facebook post basing his decision to step down on personal matters.
“Today I stepped down as Chairman of The Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) effective 1st October,” part of the post read.
“Offering leadership to some of Uganda’s most talented men and women will forever be one of my fondest experiences. Unfortunately personal commitments have robbed me of time to serve the association to the best of my ability.” Kyazze added
Julius Kyazze has been in that position for close to year. He was elected by musicians, deejays and journalists in a meeting that happened at Laftaz Lounge in October 2017. The purpose of the this association was to discuss matters on how to save the music industry from what they termed as domination of international music on Ugandan airplay.
However, despite the fact that he stepped down as chairman, Julius promises to remain in good terms with the association but only as a proud member, “I have left UMA in solid hands and I will stay an active proud member.” Julius said
We have not yet heard any information from the Uganda Musicians Association about Julius’ replacement but we shall keep you informed in case of any new develpoments
