We have already seen many marathons happening in the city from the MTN Marathon to the Kabaka Birthday Run. Now there is something new and different yet to hit our social calendar once again as Tusker Lite announced the introduction of the Kampala Night Run.

The first of its kind fun run in Uganda will also feature a wide range of fun activities besides the run that will see the streets of Kampala lit up and glowing with different colors.

The two-kilometre run scheduled for June 9th 2018 will give revellers a unique opportunity to ‘break a sweat while having fun at the same time’.

According to UBL brand manager for premium beers Grace Namutebi, “It will also be different unlike the other marathons because it is purely for fun and doesn’t stretch like the regular standard marathon distances like 42km or 21km etc”.

The run which was unveiled to the media on Thursday night Torino Bar and Restaurant is organized by Brand 7D under the ‘LITE THE NIGHT’ and sponsored by Tusker Lite.

Its start and finish point will be Torino Bar & Restaurant in Kololo, and flag off is scheduled for 7pm. The night promises to get even better as the end of the run will mark the beginning of the glow in the dark after party, where the finish point will turn into a hive of activity for the runners-turned-partygoers, with drinks and adrenaline jerking games on offer until late in the night.

“This is an event which will combine glamour and excitement, and Tusker Lite is really excited to be at the heart of this unique experience coming to Kampala for the first time. There are few things that can beat the pleasure of a night run with friends that is capped by a great party with fun people,” Estella Muzito, UBL’s Head of Beer, said.

Participants will set off from Torino Bar and Restaurant, heading for Upper Kololo, through Impala Avenue, onto Lugogo Bypass and then returning to the set-off point. At the finish line, each participant will be ushered inside for the rest of the night’s activities which will include dancing challenges, German shots, with various prizes at stake.

For safety and to create a fun environment for the participants, various fancy glow accessories will be available to the runners. These will range from bright runners’ kits to glowing wristbands and other accessories.
