Joseph Olita the man who acted as former Ugandan dictator President, Idi Amin Dada in the popular film Rise and Fall of Idi Amin has died. He died at his rural home in South East Alego at Kogelo on Sunday morning just a few hours after the funeral of his mother. He was 70 years old.
After returning from his mother’s burial in Uganda on Sunday, Olita who strikes a close resemblance to the departed dictator’s condition deteriorated and eventually succumbed to high blood pressure.
The Movie Rise and fall of Idi Amin premiered in Kenya in 1981. Based on the detailed the controversial accounts of events surrounding the turmoil of the reign of the former field marshal, after his violent rise to power in 1971following a coup until his overthrow in 1979.
The late Olita who had decided to start a new career in music, also featured in other movies including, Mississippi Masala in 1991where he acted as Idi Amin and Sheena 1984 where he performed as the First Policeman.
