After being inspired by artistes like Nigeria’s Phyno and Diamond Platnumz who hold annual festivals in their countries to celebrate their legacy and music success, Eddy Kenzo on Tuesday the 18th of February also decided to launch his very own inaugural ‘Eddy Kenzo Festival’ slated for March the 28th at Kololo Airstrip
Kenzo has become the first local artiste to organise a music festival and Luba Events which is organizing, promised a mind blowing fest that will thrill fans in Kampala and neighboring places from 8 AM till late.
The 2015 BET ‘Viewers Choice’ award winner who has been holding concerts for past 10 years decided to change things a little bit and organise a Festival
“I have decided not to just hold a concert because I have been holding concerts for the past 10 years and it’s unfair if I keep on doing the same thing and don’t change. That is why we this round decided to make a festival. We were asked for a lot of money which we paid because we wanted a spacious place to accommodate our fans because we shall treat them to lots of interesting things” Eddy Kenzo said at the press briefing held at Kati Kati Restaurant, Kampala
The ‘Mbilo Mbilo’ singer will also be giving back to charity at this festival. Lucky fans will go back home with motor bikes, cookers, school fees among other things.
“I want to give away motorbikes, cookers, give school fees so that I give hope to my common people. If we don’t do such things no one will do them. It is international artistes who have been holding concerts at Kololo Airstrip yet we also have local artistes with potential too” Eddy Kenzo added
Kenzo’s fans from Mbale, Mbarara, Masaka and neighbouring places have not been neglected as the festival will after Kampala head to Mbale, Mbarara and Masaka on 3rd, 4th and 5th of April
“Because of the magnitude of the Eddy Kenzo Festival, we tried to look around for spacious place to hold the event at and there was none and that is why we tried and secured Kololo Airatrip and that is where the it will take place.” Luba the CEO Luba Events said.
The Festival with be lit from start to end, boasting of performances from almost all the local artistes and comedians, a mobile zoo, huge kids play area, dance competitions for giveaways and there will be two helicopters which fly revellers around Kampala at a fee
