What started as a simple altercation is really becoming Koffi Olomide’s nightmare as the law has caught up with him even in his own country.
The legendary singer just after four days of being deported from Kenya for assaulting one of his dancers at the Jommo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was arrested by police at his home in Kinshasa Dr Congo.
However much the artiste pleaded, policemen in army uniforms were seen taking him into a police van to the station under the instructions of Congo’s attorney General who also promised that the artiste will spend the next three months behind bars without parole over assault and battery charges.
Koffi now faces up to 18 months behind bars and now awaits a court ruling following requests by prosecutors to have his sentence lengthened.
It is reported that the whole case was fuelled by Zakarie Bababaswe, a congressman who had earlier called a press conference and wondered why Olomide was at liberty yet there was video evidence that he assaulted a woman in Kenya.
The predicament he’s in now is that he has lost almost his entire fan base in Zambia after they also cancelled his show.
