Roads to Lugogo Cricket Oval grounds were busy yesterday, as fans made their way there for the long awaited Pepsi-sponsored concert dubbed ‘Dancing With The Champions’. As earlier reported that the gates would open at 2:00pm, fans marked the time and believe me if you were there at that time, you ought to have seen fans crowded at the entrance.
Security was tight all provided by Uganda police, the sound, the stage and the general ambiance of the place was hyper as lots of music was played by Dj’s Nimrod, Slick Stuart and Roja warmed up the large crowd of fans. It was really a party mood as the fans waited for the concert to kick off officially.
Ntv’s MC Dave Dash, who was one of the Mc’s for the day, officially kicked off the day’s main program at 6:56Pm, he opened the stage for the curtain raisers .Carol was the first local artiste to perform, later the ‘Oyogela Bubi’ singer Santana, Ks Alpha, Mighty Son and Angelina. A battle between dance groups, The ‘Party People’ and ‘Trojans’ also warmed up the fans by putting up awesome dancing skills.
Shortly after, Beenie Gunter took the stage later followed by Maro, Vampino, Ragga Dee, Fille, Nutty Neithan and Comedian Alex Muhangi who also cracked fans’ ribs with his unending jokes. Uganda’s hottest fast rising dancehall star A Pass was the last curtain raiser, the ‘Wuuyo’ hit maker put the fans in real dancing mood with his hit songs, as the time for stars of the night got closer.
At exactly 9:35pm, the ‘Do Sunm’ hit maker Konshens took the stage and fans welcomed him with a lot of cheering, dressed in black pants, black t-shirt, and an army jacket, he straight away began what the people had paid for, performing hits like ‘Simple Song’, ‘Bad Gal’ and ‘Stop Sign’ Which cheered Ladies. Konshens who said he loves Uganda also introduced Dr Jose Chameleone whom he is friends with and did some free style with him. He put up a massive performance up to 10:41 pm. That’s when NRM secretary General Justine Lumumba Kasule who had represented the President gave her remarks and welcomed Konshens and Busy Signal in Uganda.
Busy Signal who took the stage at 10:55pm was the last artiste to perform. The ‘Bed Room Bully’ star excited the fans performing his hit songs like ‘Night Shift’ and ‘Comfort Zone’ which excited the fans especially the reggae lovers, he also came on stage with fellow Jamaican Artiste ‘Exco Levi who he introduced.
He performed majority of his hit songs which the fans enjoyed and danced to for example ‘Bed Room Bully’ which the ladies danced to most, the ‘What If’ singer ran the crowd crazy up to exactly mid night.
Although there were a few sound glitches here and there, entertainment still went on till late after Government allowed two extra hours for the concert.
