‘Kwata Esimu’ Is Not Winnie Nwagi’s Song, I Own All Rights To It – Freeboy Clarifies

Promising young artiste Freeboy has come out to clarify on media reports that the song ‘Kwata Esimu’ belongs to Swangz Avenue’s Winnie Nwagi. The song which has been trending throughout the lockdown period, was reported by some sections of the media to be Nwagi’s and arguments on social media platforms over who owns the song have been common.

The artiste who was speaking to Chano8 in an exclusive interview also recognized the fact that the Swangz Avenue singer is a big brand that gave him a lot of mileage, after featuring her in the now popular Afro-fusion song.

“Winnie Nwagi is a very big brand and I’ve had an opportunity to work with her on the ‘kwata Esimu’ song. People mostly notice the bigger brand but that doesn’t take away the fact that I just featured her and she has given me a very big platform. But the song is mine and all copyrights belong to me”. He explained.

Winnie Nwagi is one of Swangz Avenue’s biggest products whom Freeboy featured.

After the song started receiving a lot of airplay and reviews, some TV presenters also started linking the young artiste from West Nile to the Makindye-based Record Label, which he swiftly refuted.

“Am blessed to have worked with Swangz Avenue, it is every artist’s dream. But that doesn’t mean am signed to them. Swangz is now like home to me but am signed under VIVA ENTERTAINMENT a West Nile-based record label”
