Local Artistes Resort To Camping At Saleh’s Gulu Office As They Demand Billions In ‘Relief Aid’

Artistes under the United Music Superstars Association reportedly wrote to General Salim Saleh to consider their request of Ug Shs 9.4 billion as stimulus package for their members.

The artistes wrote the letter through the association’s president Jose Chameleone and said they need the money to cover loses they have incurred during the Covid-19 period of about two years.

“I hereby write to your good office requesting for a stimulus package for our members following their individual loses registered as a result of the closure of the music business. It’s our request that is issue is addressed with urgent concern to save the Uganda music industry for our members are crucial stakeholders,” Read the letter.

According to the leaked letter they wrote, Chameleone is asking for Ug Shs 800,000,000 followed by his brother Pallaso who needs 821,000,000,  David Lutalo 420,000,000, King Saha 357,000,000,Weasel 650,000,000,Bebe  Cool 670,000,000), Ziza Bafana 578,000,000,Winnie Nwagi ( 380,000,000), Ronald Mayinja 462,000,000, Sofia Nantongo 357,000,000

Others included on the list are Chris Evans 220,000,000, Vinka 350,000,000, Azawi 250,000,000, B2C 500,000,000, Chagga and Henry Tigan (150,000,000), John Black 350,000,000, Roden Y Kabako 172,000,000, Karole Kasita 100,000,000

Other artistes included are Coco Finger( 124,000,000),Sekyewa Charles( 285,000,000), Chozen Blood( 120,000,000),Kiweewa Gerald 185,000,000, Da Agent 159,000,000,  Abdul Mulaasi 340,000,000, Abdul Nyugunya 152,000,000 and Mary Bata 92,000,000.

Despite the criticism from the media and the public. artistes insist they need the money because they have not been working since March, 2020.

Speaking to NBS TV after the E-concert performance recently singer Pallaso confirmed the letter and said the association members need the money as soon as possible.

“We have not been working and the E-concerts is not the solution to artistes financial problems. It’s the reason our members wrote a letter to General Salim Saleh asking for a stimulus package,” he said
