Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is one of the international voices that is standing up for the fight to save elephants.
In an interview with BBC’s Anne Soy in Kenya, the actress said it’s extremely important because elephants are one of Kenya’s big five, they even have it on there currency and she knows it’s something that’s a great source of pride to Kenya. So it’s really important for us and the rest of the world to ensure that elephants continue to walk this earth.
Her love for elephants goes back to when she was six years old and felt the need to protect them because it was so heartbreaking to see them killed for their tusks.
Lupita was also asked about her style which she briefly talked about saying that, growing up there were so many pressures of relaxing her hair as a teenager and her hair suffered a lot because of those chemicals and at some point she was just done with hair all together and she cut it off.
‘That was a very liberating moment because i was able to accept myself as I am, nothing to hide my features and then my hair grew and I realized it wasn’t that bad after all,’ she said.
