It seems Lupita Nyong’o’s family is meant for greater things as his father was elected governor for Kisumu County in Kenya in the just concluded Kenyan elections.
Prof. Anyanga Nyong’o got 252,490 votes, making him winner with 63% of the votes closely followed by Jackson Ranguma who got 141, 320 representing 36% and Christine Otieno 1919 which is less than 1% respectively.
Lupita’s father participated under the National Super Alliance coalition and Kisumu is NSA’s stronghold which made him get a landslide victory, defeating other parties.
Lupita had earlier endorsed her father as Governor but was highly criticized on social media. However, she now has the last laugh.
Lupita Nyong’o is the first Kenyan and first Mexican actress to win an Academy Award as best supporting actress for her role in the 2013 movie 12 years a slave.
She became more famous in Uganda after taking part in the ‘Queen Of Katwe’ movie, based on the incredible story of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan world chess champion. Most of the movie was acted in Uganda and has David Oyelowo as part of the cast as well.
The Kenyan-Mexico actress also starred in other movies like ‘Black Panther, ‘Star wars’,’ The Last Jedi’ and Jungle book among others.
