After a spectacular two hour and a half show case last night the 7th of July, we are comfortable to say that comedians Mad Rat and Chiko cemented a place in Uganda’s top notch comedians after successfully filling up Theatre Labonita at their first ever show dubbed Nseko Buseko organised by Pixel Media.
It was red carpet set up that saw attendees begin to march in the venue as early as 6:30 PM. The event was lit even before actual show time and Galaxy FM’s Dj Nimrod did a good job of keeping the encouraging crowd entertained with live DJ mixes before comedian Ronnie McVex who was the host, introduced singer Herbert Ssensamba the first headliner of the show at a few minutes past 8PM.
Doing a live performance, Herbert entertained the revellers singing cover songs like Jamal’s ‘Ononsonyuwa’, Jason Derulo’s ‘Swalla’ among many others. This went on until 10 minutes past 9 PM when the much awaited men of night Mad Rat and Chiko took to the stage amid lots of ululations from the crowd.
By this time, fans were already in a laughter mood and yes the rib cracking showcase from the two commenced immediately. Mad Rat was clad in a red suit and a pair of black shoes where as Chiko wore a pair of black boots, black pants, a denim shirt and a blue coat.
With all the energy, they began off dissing themselves like when Chiko told Mad Rat that he was shining in a borrowed suit. Oh yes, these guys were truly funny. They mixed both skit and stand up comedy in a manner that was so thrilling and fans were heard laughing their hearts out.
They cracked many jokes on tribes, religions, love, politics, family life, pastors, musicians to mention but a few but skits like when Mad Rat imitated Bobi Wine’s stage performance was just so hilarious. He also joked about how Bobi Wine will be talking Jamaican Patwa in parliament speaking words like ‘Wah Ah Gwaan’ Kadaga to send greetings and ‘Bomboclat’ in case he is annoyed.
The two had a good stage blend just like they always do and they would also crack jokes about themselves for example how Chiko dissed Mad Rat of his small size and shortness. In retaliation, Mad Rat dissed Chiko of his gigantic size and how his neighbours can take his shirts for curtains when ever his wife washes and hangs them on the hang line.
However, throughout their performance, they had only two very brief breaks which were inform of music performances from other headlining artistes Big Size Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone respectively.
In a nut shell, Nseko Buseko show which is heading to six other districts namely Jinja at Laftaz Dam Waters, Mbarara at Ice Lounge, Masaka at Maria Flow, Mukono at Satelite Beach, Fort Portal at Restaurant Gardens and finally Mable at Thatch Gardens was a fun filled sold out one although it ended early (before 11PM) with some revellers shouting ‘we want more’
Some of the recognisable faces at the show included Salvado, Alex Muhangi, Emma Napoleone Frank Gashumba, Hellen Lukoma among many others.
