Every legend has been honoured at some point but Maddox with all his talent and great songs has not been fully recognized as a legend apart from just words. But tonight, the artiste is going to get his official recognition for the contribution towards the music industry during the 4th edition of Zzina awards happening at Theatre Labonita.
Maddox will be given a lifetime achievement award for his role in inspiring reggae artistes in Uganda since his return from Sweden almost 20 years ago.
Despite losing out on most awards to Bebe Cool in the reggae category, the ‘Namagembe’ artiste is undeniably the best in that genre of music if songs like ‘Mwami’, ‘Kankulage’, ‘Abaato’, ‘Irene’ and ‘Bakaddebo’ are anything to go by.
With just two albums to his name, he fits in the legendary class of Ugandan musicians who are never recognized the way they are supposed to.
In the recent years, he has headlined major shows from Blankets and Wine to Roast and Rhyme and on Good Friday, he will be having his one man concert at Imperial Royal Hotel.
