He is a kind of an artiste who does his things in a silent and slow but sure way. When he opens his mouth to sing, his smooth voice and mellow flow will leave you keenly trying to connect to with what he is singing. If you have listened to his hit songs like ‘Misubawa’ and ‘Mwoyo’, you will not disagree with me.
Maurice who recently lost his beloved mother, has fallen in things this time as he will join fellow other big artists from African countries namely; Alikiba (Tanzania), Wangechi (Kenya), Dama Do Bling (Mozambique) and Ice Prince (Nigeria) on a mega song which will also feature one of the world’s best R&B singers Ne-Yo from the United States of America. Kirya who revealed how he loves Ne-Yo’s music and always looked up to him as an inspiration, posted on social media saying “! It’s an honour to represent Uganda in the recording of this special mega mash-up song. Headed to Nairobi next week for grand meet up and recording”.
The ‘Miss Independent’ singer was not done yet after the exciting news. He went ahead and added in an interview that; “It’s a true honor to return to Africa and celebrate artists from all over the continent. By creating this musical fusion through Coke Studio Africa, people of all races, ethnicity and religion will come together through this remarkable opportunity. I’m so excited to build lasting moments with all of these incredibly talented artists and musicians.”
Coke Studio Africa features performances and collaborations from popular artists who have made a mark on their local music scene. However, this year artists will collaborate in a unique format of mash-ups – the latest trend in the global music. Big congratulations go to Maurice Kirya upon making it through.
