The Sound Cup boss Maurice Kirya will star in Queen of Katwe alongside Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o.
According to the Star website, the soulful singer will be flying to South Africa anytime this week, where he will be on location with Lupita for a shoot of some of the scenes. Maurice also revealed to the Kenyan website, that he has met Lupita on several occasions, but limited the conversation to professional stuff.
“She is a very good actress and has very big things coming up. She is East African and we all appreciate her and what she is doing. As an actor, it would be an honour to act with her on the same set,” he said.
With that said we are sure his fans can’t wait to see him in the highly anticipated movie. After all, he did act alongside Forest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland.
Queen of Katwe will be based on the life of Fiona Mutesi a Ugandan teenage girl who grew up on the streets of Katwe playing chess since her childhood and because of that, she has travelled and met prominent people like Gary Kasparov, the greatest chess player ever, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton among others.
