After garnering 176,637 votes with prominent artiste Ragga Dee coming in second position with 49,366 votes and IssaKikungwe getting 7,759, incoming Mayor EriasLukwago has promised to transform Kampala into a modern city suitable to the Pearl of Africa.
Speaking to the media after the Mayoral victory, the Democratic Party representative said “We need to transform Kampala into a modern city befitting the Pearl of Africa. I pledge to work with the elected councilors. I am happy that all councilors who gave me a hard time haven’t been returned by the electorate. We must have a new structural plan realigning our p riorities. We have over 1, 000 km of road. We must work on our city roads.”
It shouldn’t be forgotten that Lukwago during his five years in office was restricted of his rights and turned to more of a ceremony mayor when Jennifer Musisi was put in office as the KCCA Executive Director.
The mayor-elect also demands an apology from President Museveni over insulting statements after he referred to some opposition figures as ;Rats’ during his final rally in Kampala at Kololo airstrip last week.
