Muchomo festival came, it took over and it is one of those events meat lovers, party animals and well wishers wouldn’t want to miss out. Well, yesterday Sunday the 23rd of July, revellers thronged Uganda Museum ground where the 3rd edition of the fest successfully took place.
This was a family event that saw attendees star streaming in at the venue as early as 1 PM, booking seats at the Club Twist mobile beach whereas some chose to just sit on the ground as they awaited show time. Meanwhile, various meat vendors and restaurants were busy doing their thing making sure it was ready for munching.
Janzi Band who took to the stage at 7:30 PM were the main headliners and they took to stage amid ululations from the crowd that was already lit up by the rest of the days’ performances. With all the energy they started off their performance in a Reggae style doing cover songs of celebrated Reggae singers like Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Alpha Blondy and Tarrus Riley before they switched to other genres as the crowd danced along and cheered them on
Just after their performance, the crowd thought the event was done and a few were seen leaving but this was before the host introduced one of Uganda’s best Dj’s Ape Man now Mr. Silverbacks who took on the crowd till late with thrilling live Dj mixes that brought life back gain.
Meanwhile on the other hand, before Janzi Band had taken to the stage, the crowd was treated to the best of live Reggae mixes that went on up to when the MC of the day Galaxy FM’s Mr Mosh kicked off the show at 4:30 PM with performances from Dj’s Jamal, LL and Dj Nimrod. Everyone had at least 40 minutes to showcase but Nimrod’s session lit up the fire in the crowd as he mixed old school and the new era songs.
The event had a good turn up with some familiar faces in the crowd among which were comedians Salvado and Alex Muhangi, singer Lydia Jazmine, St Nelly Sade, TV presenter Tatu among many others. A special round of applause to companies SMS ONE, Chano8, Club Twist, The Carnival, Jumia Food, Ug Kuku, Galaxy FM, NBS TV and Uber who sponsored this year’s edition.
