The fourth edition of Ekkula Tourism Awards 2019 was launched by the State Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon Kiwanda Godfrey.
On the same event, Miss Uganda Quiin Abenakyo who is also Miss World Africa was unveiled as the Tourism Goodwill Ambassador that will promote both domestic and international tourism under the ‘Tulambule Uganda’ campaign.
“I will do this once again for my country that am so proud of, am honored to work with the Ministry of Tourism and the Uganda Tourism Board to make sure that everyone gets to know our story as the Pearl of Africa,” said Abenakyo.
The coordinator of Ekkula Tourism Awards Mr. Bismac Moses Amumpaire said the Awards continue to recognise, inspire and motivate key tourism players in the tourism players.
Bismac also stressed on the achievements of the Awards saying they have motivated, inspired and awarded different tourism stakeholders in different Sectors.
This year’s edition will run under the theme ‘‘Sharing our Cultural Diversity Through The Digital Transformation For Bigger Tourism Numbers’’ at Sheraton hotel on 29th March.
Uganda has had over 24 Miss Uganda beauties but among them all, no one had ever gotten to the top 30 in the Miss World beauty pageant. That record was broken when the 2018/19 Miss Uganda Quiin finished fourth overall as well as emerging Miss World Africa.
