Business came to stand still in Masaka town on Friday as MTN Uganda launched the popular MoMo Nyabo campaign in style as it made a return for season 2 dubbed MTN MoMo Nyabo Neera.
Business was paralyzed as convoys of cars drove through Masaka streets to announce the return of the campaign which also ran successfully last year with several customers walking away with different prizes ranging from cars to airtime.
In the convoy that snaked its way through the streets with pomp and merrymaking were some of the prizes to be won in the campaign including brand new Wish Cars, Motorcycles and smart phones.
According to Mr Samuel Gitta the acting Manager Risk Compliance who represented the CEO Mr. Wim Vanhelleputte, there are many super prizes on offer for the customers using MTN mobile money for their transactions. He was speaking to journalists at a press briefing held at Brovad Hotel as part of activities to launch the campaign.
“We recently unveiled new tariffs for our Mobile Money transactions where rates were slashed to half as a way of giving back to our customers and to top it up have also brought several prizes to be won in the MoMo Nyabo Neera campaign meaning it is a double win for the customers” Mr Gitta said.
Among the prizes on offer include; 24 Wish cars, 32 Boda Boda Motorcycles and 160 Kamunye Smart phones. Other prizes include 16,000 customers walking away with UGX.20, 000 each worth of mobile money and 60 customers pocketing UGX.250, 000 each also worth of mobile money.
“This is just one of several promotions we are bringing this year to give back to our customers who have embraced our products especially mobile money users sending money to loved ones and those buying data stand a big chance”. Gitta added.
Draws for the winners will be held every Wednesday at 9:30pm on NBS and Bukedde TVs and to enter the draws, all one has to do is dial *165*1# and follow the prompts.
During the street drives, the locals looked jolly and welcoming as excited residents lined up the streets to cheer up the procession which also included bikers of monster machines, MTN staff and sexy entertainers no wonder the host mayor of the town which is soon to become a city, was over the moon.
“We thank MTN for the huge contributions it has made to this city (the Kabaka city) and to the country in general by creating jobs for our youth, paying big taxes and infrastructure development like the upcoming one where they will build a new round about just like our friends have built with a cow. Ours will have coffee and bananas as our symbol”. The Mayor of Masaka Mr Godfrey Kayemba Afaayo. said.
The procession then headed to Masaka Recreation Grounds for entertainment and unveiling of the prizes where the first motorcycle was won for the promotion which will run for 8 weeks. The party continued till late.
