MTN Takes Over Main Sponsorship Of Miss Uganda 2019 Beauty Pageant

MTN Uganda has officially become the main sponsor off the Miss Uganda beauty pageant after injecting millions in financial and marketing support. The announcement was made this afternoon at a press briefing held at Nyonyi Gardens and will run through the one-month period although the partnership will continue into other activities after the grand finale.

Ms Hellen Karungi the MTN Youth Segment Manager while making the announcement told journalists that, MTN is super excited about the sponsorship and ready to work with the organisers Kezzy Entertainment to see that the partnership grows into something big.

“As a brand that is keen on supporting the youth in a special way, MTN Uganda is happy to be the main official sponsor of the Miss Uganda 2019 beauty contest. Youth are passionate about fashion and this is a major driver for our youth segment MTN Pulse. Therefore, supporting the Miss Uganda pageant will enable us to reach out to the youth in ways that endears them to something they are passionate about”

Although she couldn’t divulge into the details of how much has been injected in terms of figures, she added that it is a great opportunity for both Miss Uganda beauty pageant and MTN Uganda to reach the youth who are into fashion and style and also for those on the Pulse to be part.

She noted  that the  sponsorship will enable the Miss Uganda Foundation to leverage MTN Uganda given their similar causes of focus – Maternal and girl child health something which Miss Uganda Foundation CEO Brenda Nanyonjo also echoed.

This partnership will help both Miss Uganda Foundation and MTN Uganda to reach the youth and as well engage in projects with common interests which Miss Uganda is already working on. These projects will continue even after Miss Uganda 2019 is selected.

Talent Africa’s CEO Ali Alibhai said they are excited with the sponsorship and partnership which comes after last year’s successful event where Uganda had a run at Miss World where Quin Abenakya became Miss World Africa and also finished fourth.

“With the partnership we expect to even to do better as last year was just our first time working with Miss Uganda Foundation and Kezzy Entertainment on the pageant”. Ali said .

The afternoon press briefing at Nonyi gardens was full house.

MTN’s sponsorship will mostly be in media support publicity leverage and also includes sponsoring Miss Popularity which will now be renamed ‘Miss Pulse’ this year.

Miss Sylvia Namutebi the Project Coordinator and a former Miss Uganda summed it up by saying that it is a great opportunity for the partners involved to make history. She added that Miss World will also be in the country to add to the publicity and give it international mileage for a full week.

Auditions for this year’s edition will be at Sheraton Hotel Kampala Lake room on 22nd and 23rd June 2019 from 10AM to 3:00PM.
