The Awards that were founded in 2009 serves as the face and voice for the African gospel and Christian community worldwide.
The Awards are dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating the gospel through Africa-fusion music of all styles. It is an event that recognises talented and hard working gospel artists based in Africa and in the Diaspora
The first Awards were held in South London in 2010. Since then, it has grown to involve bigger audiences that have followed proceedings through live TV coverage across US and Africa
Recognition is also given to organisations and other media entities who seek to promote African Gospel Music and artistes.
This year’s nominations have been blessed with a rich line-up of very talented Ugandan artists including the multi talented instrumentalist Michael Ouma aka Myko Ouma who is nominated in the category of Afro Jazz Musician of the Year.

Pastor Wilson Bugembe who has been a force to reckon with in the industry in a decade or so is nominated for Male Artiste of the Year alongside another talented artist Coopy Bly in the awards dominated by Nigerians and South Africans.
Other Ugandan artists nominated and featuring prominently include, Julie Mutesasira who is nominated twice for Female Artiste of the Year and Artiste of the Year East Africa alongside Jackie Senyonjo
