Oscar award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is in the country not to visit but as a cast in a movie called “Queen of katwe”.
The Kenyan born will be the lead actress in this awesome movie about a Ugandan chess genius, who travelled across the globe to exhibit her talent.
Lupita flew into the country on Monday evening and her stay has been kept discreet especially from the media to avoid public awareness.
The 12 years a slave actress is the most successful East African in the movie industry because of her role in the movie that won her the Oscar award of Best actress in a supporting role.
Lupita Nyong’o is a Mexican-Kenyan actress and film director. She was born in Mexico, but was raised in Kenya. She attended college in the United States, earning a Bachelor’s degree in film and theater studies from Hampshire.
It is believed the best supporting actress will be in the country for about a week before she goes back to the USA.
Lupita’s character in 12 years a slave was Petsy, a maid, whose master sexually abused her regularly at the ranch.
Fiona Mutesi is a Ugandan teenage girl who grew up on the streets of Katwe playing chess since her childhood and because of the game, she has travelled and met prominent people like Gary Kasparov, the greatest chess player ever, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton among others.
