Pallaso Wins ‘Artiste Of The Year’ As Zzina Awards 2021 Is Also Held Virtually

For the second time in their history, the annual “Zzina Awards” were on Friday the 30th of April 2021 held virtually in respect of the suspension that social events are still on, because of the spread of Covid19.

The 2021, which is also the 7th edition of these awards was held at the organisers, Galaxy FM’s premises, and was streamed live on the radio station’s social media platforms and YouTube.

The ceremony started at 10 AM, with one of the things it boasted of being the glamorous red carpet treat which was followed by artistes’ performances and later, the day’s main  activity, the Awarding Session.

This saw winners in different categories who were present receive their awards and those who didn’t make it, had representatives pick their accolades on their behalves.

A total of 20 awards in different categories were handed out. Fans voted in 18 categories and a panel of judges selected the “Sports Personality Of The Year” and “Legend Of The Year” that were received by Joshua Cheptegei and Afrigo Band, represented by Moses Matovu respectively.

Pallaso walked home with what is considered the three biggest awards which are  “Artist of The Year”, “Song of the Year” and “Best Male Artiste”.

Among other winners is singer-turned-politician and also former presidential candidate in the January Uganda general elections, Bobi Wine whose song “Corona Virus Alert” won the “Best Inspirational Song”. Spice Diana won “Best Female Artiste” whereas the best “Breakthrough Artiste” is Victor Ruz

There were performances by local artistes like Karole Kasita, Victor Ruz, Martha Mukisa, Fik Fameica, Zex Bilangi Laangi, Pallaso, Eddy Kenzo, Sama Sojah, Mudra, Pia Pounds among others.

Galaxy FM partnered with Buzz Events to to deliver a near to perfection production of the awards ceremony live which lovers/ followers of Ugandan music watched wherever they were.

Zzina Awards’ aim is to recognize and award outstanding Ugandan talents of the past 12 months.
