President Yoweri Museveni this evening welcomed the Pope Francis this afternoon at around 5pm after he Landed at Entebbe International Airport for his maiden visit to Africa. He was aboard The Alitalia plane with his team after finalising his visit to Kenya.
The Holy Father later went to State House Entebbe where he was hosted by the first family and important diginitaries. The pontiff will be here for a three-day visit (two nights) before continuing with his visit of the continent to the Central African Republic on Sunday. This is his first pastoral visit to Africa by Francis since becoming Pope in 2013.
President Yoweri Museveni who was accompanied by his wife first Lady Janet Museveni, government and religious leaders looked excited to host the leader of the Catholics in the world.
While in Uganda the Anglican and Catholic Sanctuaries of the Martyrs at Namugongo and have mass. He will also have a meeting with youth at Kololo Air Strip in Kampala tomorrow and visit the House of Charity of Nalukolongo and hold several meetings with government and religious leaders before flying out on Sunday morning.
