Ever since the Uganda football team (Uganda cranes) qualified for the Africa cup of Nations due in Gabon next year, the team has been the talk of town, the players have become celebrities everywhere they go because they did the unexpected after 39 years of waiting.
It is for this particular reason that his excellence the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni hosted them for a private session last Thursday evening at State house in Kololo.
The team that comprised of players, coaching staff, FUFA members and some journalists were engaged in a closed meeting where they discussed matters to do with football and the way forward.
We are also told that the president promised them something as gratitude for their qualification.
After the meeting, the president showed them how he’s also skilled in that filed by juggling and displaying other skills on the ball before taking pictures with them.
“On behalf of Ugandans, I also wanted to commend them for the successes so far in the campaign to represent Uganda at the World Cup in 2018.” he said. Before appealing to the players and officials to be good ambassadors since sports also promotes the country.
It was even believed that he would be attending tomorrow’s game between the cranes and Congo Brazzaville at Nambole for the world cup qualifiers but due to other circumstances, he decided that his wife and minister for sports and education Janet Museveni would attend instead.
