Fresh from his European tour, Music Doctor Jose Chameleone hit Club Venom with a bang last night in a concert dubbed ‘Amplified’. Chameleone who shared the stage with Coco Finger and Khalifa Aganaga was in high spirits as he put up a superb performance at the Kabalagala based Beach bar that was filled to capacity.
The surprise act of the night was the dynamic duo of Radio and Weasel who performed their new hit songs and collabo with the ‘Tubonge’ singer. They also took time to heap praises on Chameleone, recognizing him as the one responsible for introducing them to music. Radio said if it was not for Chameleone giving him the opportunity, he would never have gotten into music.
Weasel who is a younger brother to Chameleone, together with Radio were mentored at Leone Island where they did the supporting act to Chamleone as backup singers. They left to start the Goodlyfe and have been doing well till recently when they fell out with their manager Jeff Kiwa. They have since split up the Goodlyfe into two camps amidst accusations of fraud which culminated into bar brawls and physical fights last week.
This latest gesture of the duo performing with Chameleone is seen by music critics as a journey towards reconciliation with their former boss who has been calling on local artists to stop beefing and concentrate on developing the music industry.
Notably absent was Chameleone’s younger brother who has since joined the new Goodlyfe label and former manager Sam Mukasa and his protege King Saha.
Present in the house were other artistes like Rabadaba, Big Eye and BobiWine, Vampino from Swangz Avenue, Atlas and producer Washington.
In the concert, the Leone Island boss took us through his musical journey from ‘Mama Mia’, Dorotia to collabos with MunG and Davido and finally his collabo with Radio and Weasel.
The Venom beach bar is fast becoming the venue of choice for artistes showcasing their latest musical works.
