R&B Star Ginuwine To Headline First Edition Of Johnnie Walker Soul-R&B Safari

Well, the debate was already going on behind the scenes as to who will be the star to headline the much anticipated Johnnie Walker Soul-R&B Safari show.

This was put to rest last on Friday after organisers finally announced it will be none other than American RnB star Genuwine who will be serenading fans come Saturday, December 1st. Ugandan R&B and soul music fans have a chance to experience firsthand what the icon has done through the years.

Ginuwine whose real name is Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, captivated Ugandan R&B and soul music lovers for close to two decades with songs like ‘Same Ol G’, ‘Pony’, ‘Differences’, ‘So Anxious’, ‘What’s So Different’, ‘Stingy’, ‘None of Your Business’ which dominated local airwaves.

With organisers splitting the Johnnie Walker Jazz and Soul Safari into two with the jazz show preceding the Johnnie Walker Soul Safari earlier, while this will be the first time the fans will experience the softer side of the event at their new home in Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The 47-year-old American singer, songwriter, dancer and actor will for the first time in Uganda go up close and live in concert with experience that promises to stay for long in the memory of the fans to give Ugandans the perfect start to the festive season.

“Ginuwine stands out as one of the most iconic artistes of our times, an example of progress and success. He gave R&B music a sleeker, sexier feel. As one of the most iconic global brands, Johnnie Walker is excited to be at the centre of giving Ugandans this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch him live in concert”. Said Roger Agamba, the IPS and Reserve Manager at Uganda Breweries Limited.

Stanbic Bank Marketing Manager Sonia Karamagi Kasagga said Stanbic Bank the official financial partner is proud to support the Johnnie Walker Soul R&B Safari which they have partnered with since its inception and have introduced sale of tickets at discounted using e-Cards.

He is coming with a full band and dancers. This is definitely a must-watch as our very own artistes like Naava Grey and Kenneth Mugabe will also be performing”.
