Comedian Patrick Idringi Salvado yesterday launched a new comedy talent show in partnership with NBS TV which he will soon host. The talent search show will air on TV in a program called ‘The Comic’ and prizes worth millions are up for grabs for the winners as well as bragging rights as ‘King/Queen of comedy’ for the overall winner.
The announcement was made yesterday at NBS TV offices in Kamokya and also relayed live to the audience in a televised briefing which the comedian termed ‘A historical moment’.
He was in the company of his team from Sheer Solutions Africa like Tonny Mutengu and Zakia Maseruka and top NTV management team that included Joseph Kigozi the Chief Strategist and hosted by Samson Kasumba.
“What a dream come true this is … it’s been a long journey but finally it’s here.. For the first time since 2009 a legit comedy talent search is here, we are looking for the funniest man or woman to be crowned King/Queen of comedy, to all those who believe they have what it takes to be funny and make people laugh well here is your chance to not only be King/Queen of comedy but also win yourself a brand new Car, a 1yr TV Contract and a hefty cash prize 😀…” He later posted to his fans on social media.
Registration for those interesting in becoming the next big thing is by use of short messaging where one is required to send the word COMIC to 8888 via SMS and the reply automatically comes with the audition number. Auditions will take place on the 18th and 19th of April 2018 8:00am at Kwese Tv auditorium.
Kenneth Pablo Kimuli emerged as the first winner of the first ever major comedy talent show in Uganda after winning the M-Net Stand Up Uganda contest in 2009 organised by DSTV in Uganda beating Salvado himself and Daniel Omara in the process.
