When Columbus Short left a Man unconscious in LA in March, he said he was only defending his wife Tanee McCall. In July he told Atlanta’s V-103 radio station: ‘I had to defend my wife at a bar. This man was being highly, highly disrespectful… slapping
her in the face with $20 bills.’
TMZ have alleged to have acquired a text message that Columbus sent to the victim on the night of the fight, in which he confesses to the attack and apologizes.
I know im texting and incriminating myself, but I have to own what I did wrong in that situation,’ the website claim Columbus wrote.
Adding: ‘Im so sorry and completely disappointed in myself. Whether I go to jail or not that will be the worst punishment of all. Losing you guys.’
TMZ shows the victim Felton Hyche III, in a neck brace and unconscious before being taken to a local hospital.
According to sources, Short punched his 37-year-old victim in the face, and knocked him to the ground at an engagement party where Felton had allegedly insulted Short’s estranged wife.
Columbus pleaded not guilty to felony battery for the fight in a hearing in May.
The Scandal star missed a court hearing in his domestic violence case against his wife and a warrant has since been issued for his arrest. A judge issued a bench warrant for Short’s arrest after his failure to appear.
The actor announced in April that he would be stepping down from ‘Scandal’ after three seasons following his arrest for domestic violence.
