Newly elected Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) guild president who also happens to be the shortest student at the Mbale based campus Shahali Mugamba came out and sighted Parliament to be his next destination after clinching the top University post last Saturday.
The 27 year old while speaking to NTV on Monday said that he wants to take his political ambition further until he’s elected in Parliament. “I want to be the next Member of Parliament for Budadili West in Mbale which is represented by Nandala Mafabi.” He told the reporter.
The second year computer science student polled 653 votes beating fellow colleagues, Mohamed DahirDagane who garnered 562 votes while Katende Jamaldin came in third position with 556 votes.
Soon after he was announced winner, Shahali said that,” it has taken me back to my campaign message of those who were worried about my age and size, Obukulembezen’obuwereza si size , simyaaka, wabula bwongo” literally meaning that leadership is not all about size and age but rather Brains.
The most powerful man among students in Mbale could not celebrate long with his fans as he fainted shortly after and could only be whisked away in an ambulance.
