Renowned Ugandan singer and philanthropist Angella Katatumba’s father Ambassador Bonney Katatumba passed on last week and it is reported that cancer and Pneumonia were the cause of death. However, it wasn’t only the business fraternity that lost one of its own, but the government as well because he was a Consul General at Pakistan Consulate in Uganda.
Usually, when an incident like this happens, the government finds a replacement with immediate effect but this in this case, nothing seems to have happened yet almost a week later.
It is not yet clear why there is no announcement or replacement yet. May be because many people have been mourning his Excellency all along.
After the family returned from the village, Angela straight away took it upon herself to take over her father’s duties until government finds a suitable person for the job as well as family business affairs.
The musician as we write this, can be found in the Pakistan consulate office in Muyenga just next to Hotel Diplomat which also gives her an advantage of running two offices at the same time because she has been managing the hotel for over five years now.
“His excellency Prof. Bonney Katatumba’s death was unfortunate and sudden. However, the Pakistan Consulate remains open. For anything regarding the office, I’m available,” She told us.
