Local musician Geoffrey Lutaaya shocked Ugandans after he came out publicly and announced that he passed with high flying colours in the recently released Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams despite obtaining aggregate 62
Excited Geoffrey posted his results that show the aggregate 62 he scooped (English 5, CRE 8, History 9, Luganda 5, Biology 6, Geography 9, Commerce 9, Mathematics 9)..
The singer who dropped out school 20 years ago to pursue his music career decided to go back to school and acquire education and he has been secretly studying at Maikah Secondary School in Kyotera which is his home district. In a interview with a local TV station, he said that he sat the exams last year with almost 120 students but not everyone passed like him. He attributes his success to his good memory despite his age.
During the same interview, Geoffrey who was accompanied by his wife singer Irene Namatovu, narrated why he had to get back to school.
“ I sat S4 so many years back but decided to resit after 20 years to taste my memory. And because I want to join Senior Five and Six, I needed my brains to be refreshed. I must sit for S6 and later join University at any cost” the singer narrated.
His wife Irene Namatovu who is an S6 dropout vowed to also sit for Senior 6 exams with her husband and they say that education is the way to go.
Geoffrey Lutaaya made his intentions clear to contest for the Member of Parliament seat of Kakuto county, Kyotera District in the upcoming 2021 general elections.
