Speaker Kadaga Rallies Behind Uganda’s Abenakyo As Miss World Climaxes Today

For the past couple of years, Ugandans have not been so interested in the Miss Uganda beauty pageant not until this year when they realized that actually Quiin Abenakyo could come home with the Miss World Crown.

This was after she became the first Ugandan to reach the top 30 contestants at the ongoing Miss World in Sanyo, China. After this milestone, Ugandans rallied against her by voting for her online and calling upon others to do the same.

Among those who are excited about Abenakyo is the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga who also rallied the public including members of parliament to vote for Uganda’s beauty champion for Miss World.

Kadaga made the announcement while presiding over the house sitting on Wednesday afternoon.

This could also be attributed to the fact that Abenakyo comes from the East, the same place where the speaker comes from so rallying for her would be the best thing to do.

To reach this stage, Abenakyo, aged 22 years was impressive when spoke passionately about her ‘Beauty with a Purpose’ project which is fighting teenage pregnancies.

The global competition is underway in Sanya, China and is expected to climax this Friday.
