When singer Spice Diana real name Diana Hajara Namukwaya, earlier this year said she wants to take marketing seriously, she really meant it. First to assert her position, she said she would enroll for a course to learn all the technicalities involved in branding and marketing because she wants to “take it a notch higher”.
She then did some kind of re-branding of her image or make-over if you like, employing muscled men as body guards and a team to run her public image as well as management of her career affairs.
“Soon I’ll be going back to school to study more about branding and marketing. I want to be better person every day; I want my brand to develop, to be remembered. I want people to learn from me,” Spice Diana said during an interview with Youtubers Sean Musa Carter and Denis Duke in May.
Those moves immediately started paying dividends as endorsement deals started flowing in for the “Kokonya” singer making her one of busiest singers at least if not performance wise, then in the board rooms.
From signing mega deals with beauty brands, to mobile phone brands and now to a mobile money transfer platform Spice is surely living a life most of her peers can only dream about.
One of the notable deals came at the start of the year when she signed to become the face of Italtex Tile Adhesive where she features on the company’s billboards and TV commercials.
However, this one she has just signed with Chipper Cash as Brand Ambassador seems to be the biggest of them all. Chipper Cash is arguably the largest mobile cross-border money transfer platform in Africa where users of the platform can send and receive money free of charge across 7 African markets; Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania.
Although she did not disclose the figures involved, an insider told us that the figures are huge and in the contract signed, her primary role will be to create awareness for the Chipper Cash brand on all her social media accounts where she commands a huge fan base.
