When most actors felt Sylvester Stallone hadn’t done justice to his speech by just thanking two of his co-stars, the famous actor who rocked Ugandan screens in the 90’s had a second go at it during a commercial break where he thanked all his fellow actors. One would say nerves got the best of him considering the last time he received a prestigious award was 1977, yes you read it right 1977, and that was for his role in Rocky, a movie which he holds so dear to his heart.
While accepting the golden award for best supporting actor for his role in creed Sylvester Stallone tried to hold back tears,
“I’m gonna try not to get emotional, because I am the sum total of everyone I’ve ever met and I’m lucky to absorb some of it,” he said. “I just want to say thank you to the Hollywood foreign press, this is incredible. Last time I was here, it was 1977 and I was kind of hit by tumbleweed, a long time ago. Like a different—different situation. And the view is so beautiful.”
He continued, “I want to thank my wife and my children, Sophia, Scarlet and Sistine because actually having your love is the greatest reward in the world, every day.”
Stallone concluded by cracking open his humor book and sharing a throwback, “I want to thank my imaginary friend, Rocky Balboa, for being the best friend I ever had,” he joked. “Thank you.”
